PAL +BUS

Our first opening to coincide with the Divisadero Art Walk the PAL +BUS show brings together two young contemporary arts organizations finding their footing in San Francisco. The Poor Artist league has shown at Big Umbrella Studios in the past but in honor of the new year and in an effort to blow out the ART WALK the artists of PAL will this time show alongside the work of Big Umbrella Studios Members.

About six months ago, our good friend and rad artist Fred Gray kept talking about tiny things: tiny paintings, tiny works, everything tiny. It started as a broad idea for some artists to focus on--take a break from the big money, big kahuna works--and possibly find a humble approach, well, at least a humble size. Turns out, not only did Mr. Gray encourage at least fifteen artists from the city to adhere to his 8.5" x 11" maximum size, but b.u.s. Gallery is hosting a month long show of this art in a smaller dimension. Come check out the hard work he has put into curating the show, and the work of many artists--most of whom will be in attendance at the opening reception--with paintings you've never seen so small.

It's open enrollment time!

We are currently accepting new artist applications! Big Umbrella members get studio space to work in and wall space to sell art. Proposals for Guest Artists and future shows also accepted. Member artists receive 24hr. workspace access and 15% gallery commission. $125/month or $110 with a six month commitment Inquire within!
